What is OK2SAY?
OK2SAY is a confidential reporting system designed to keep schools and communities safe. It empowers students to break the code of silence by submitting tips about dangerous, harmful, or concerning behaviors—such as bullying, threats, or violence. Reports can be made by call, text, email, mobile app, or online. Every tip is reviewed and shared with the right people so action can be taken quickly. OK2SAY reminds students that speaking up isn’t tattling—it’s helping to protect themselves and others.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The focus of the program is to continue to create a positive school climate that fostersRespect, Ownership, Character, Kindness, and Safety (ROCKS).
How the Program Works
Union City staff developed the ROCKS philosophy to provide students with a common language for learning school-wide behavior expectations.
There are proactive teachings that outline expectations, along with frequent opportunities to practice them.
Students who are consistently demonstrating positive behaviors are recognized daily.
Data will be used to make decisions regarding school behavior expectations. We will provide consistent, predictable, and fair consequences for all students.
Affirmations
When a staff member witnesses a student performing an expected behavior from the matrix, the student will receive an affirmation. These will go into a drawing that will be held during a school-wide assembly. Ask your child if he/she has earned an affirmation.
What can parents do?
Ask your student how they are utilizing ROCKS throughout their school day.
Read and discuss any ROCKS materials that are sent home with your student.
Support teachers' and administration's behavior decisions.
With your continued support and involvement, it is clear that students at Union City Community Schools will excel in a safe and positive learning environment.
